Explore the Grand Canyon
If you’ve ever used the facilities at Phoenix Airport parking you’ll know that it’s only a few miles away from the center of town. Not only that but it’s conveniently close to a wide selection of top quality hotels, golf courses, and national parks like the Grand Canyon . And with everything literally on your doorstep you can be off the plane and on the way to your hotel for lunch in a matter of minutes. After you’ve eaten lunch you can go explore the Grand Canyon – and trust me, you don’t have to look down if you suffer from vertigo like I do.
In fact there are a number of indoor activities to draw your attention away from the dizzying landscape, including the Kolb studio named after the two brothers who owned it. They made their living photographing visitors hiking along the Bright Angel Trail. If you decide to try walking the trail yourself don’t be tempted to feed the squirrels, they’ve been known to bite humans and you could end up in casualty.
For a slightly less hazardous pastime why not call into the El Tovar Hotel and see what you can find in the gift shop? If you’re on vacation you’ll definitely want to buy a few souvenirs for the friends at family back home.
If on the other hand you’re still planning your vacation why not see if you can bag some cheap airline tickets ? Try looking online for the cheapest tickets available, and if you start looking well in advance you’ll have more chance of finding a great deal. That way you’ll get a chance to visit even more of the tourist attractions, and with any luck you could soon be having your photograph taken in front of the Abyss – just don’t ask me to stand next to you.
